moisespetty215 It would almost certainly shock my mother very much if she knew I’m regarded as a concept 2 rowers expert! Never during my younger years did the careers advisor at school ever imply that this could be in my destiny. If somebody would have said to me five-years ago that one day I might be talking about concept 2 rowers I’d have called them crazy, yet here I am! So please read my work, of course if you’ve questions do send an email.

Intregal part of my 75 pound weight loss!!!

I own the Concept 2 Model D. I purchased it last year after an exhausting field and internet search. I "casually" used it for several months until a few months ago when I became very serious about losing weight. I now use the rower 5 to 6 times a week 30 minutes minimum- with an average of 45 minutes and occasionally (usually Saturday mornings) a 60 minute workout. I do not overdue the individual workouts, and maintain about a 23 stroke per minute rhythm.I chose this rower for several reasons. First, the great reviews on internet websites. Secondly, I was very impressed with the sales associate. He did not try to "oversell" me, instead he convinced me that for my needs the model D was more than sufficient. Third, I was fortunate enough to try one out at a friends home gym- I was impressed. Lastly- this is a high quality machine- very sturdy and well designed.I utilize this machine, along with a low carb diet and walking 3-4 miles 2 to 3 times a week, to... 5/5 D. "The Rower"

You need go no further than a major crew regatta such as the Head of the Charles to understand why Concept2 rowers are regarded as the best available. Generally there are only a few rower manufacturers represented in vendor alley, and the one with the crowd will be Concept2. Found in crew boathouses everywhere, not only are they well-built and smooth, but can even be linked together to work in unison for training purposes. It's actually quite amazing to see in action. Concept2 also has an enormously enthusiastic user base that competes across the world. That's indoor rower competition! You'll also find Concept2 rowers in gyms everywhere - they're very tough.Concept2 makes two models. They are actually fairly close in specs and the pricing difference is a few hundred dollars. This listing is for Concept2's D model with their PM3 electronics module. I view the principal difference between the D and E models as height (the E is a bit taller). The E also comes... 5/5 New England Yankee (Northern New England) - See all my reviews, October 17, 2008

One of the best purchases for fitness you can make

I bought a Model D with the PM3 monitor in August, 2009. I have been overweight my entire life and in November of 2008 I finally decided to change my life. I started a new way of eating with Nutrisystem and I started exercising. I bought an elliptical and treadmill to join my stationary bike and started losing weight. As I slowly became more fit, I kept researching other things I could do to keep my interest in exercise going. I'd never seen an indoor rower, but read about them as being terrific exercise in various places. I started looking really hard at them when I realized just how great a workout they offered at a low impact. Concept 2 is considered the standard in rowing machines. I was very pleased with the price point as well. I'd already spent a lot of money on the treadmill and elliptical and didn't want to drop a lot more. One very nice thing about Concept 2 machines is that they hold their value very well. I couldn't find a used Model D in my area on Craigslist,... 5/5 A. A Great Rower

I ride dirt bikes, and this machine offers the perfect workout for the areas I need help with most. Shoulders, Back and Arms. Some people say the legs get a good workout as well, but I would say that is not the case. Very little benefit to the legs, but it is easy on the knees.Overall the Concept2 Model E is a great machine. I am glad I chose this over the Model D just for the higher stance, PM4 and maintenace free (except for oil) chain. The machine came delivered in two boxes, both of which were pretty beat up when they arrived, but nothing was damaged.Putting the machine together took me about 30 minutes, and the instructions were OK. For the money I paid for this machine, I was hoping for a little bit better overall quality. Some of the screws did not line up really well with some of the holes for assembly. I may have even stripped one trying to get it in there, but it seems to be holding on ok. Also there is more plastic than I thought there would have... 4/5 J. Best rower in the world

I have owned two Concept 2 rowers, the Model C and now the Model E. I donated the Model C to my parents when I "ascended" up to the Model E. Without doubt, Concept 2 has produced the world's best rower. It's built to last a lifetime of private use. And if parts are ever an issue, Concept 2 still has parts (quite cheap) for all their rowers, even the Model A! If you seriously plan to row for exercise or sport, the Model E (or any model, for that matter) will be your best investment. 5/5 Randall J. Best Investment in Aerobic fitness

I have had the Concept2 model C for over 6 years and still use it 3 to 4 times a week. My company recently got the model D in the office gym and it does have some improvements. Most noticeably the machine is a bit quieter and the electronics are more advanced (although, as has always been the case with concept2 rowers, the electronics can be upgraded to the latest for a reasonable fee). While I don't see a need to run out and upgrade my home machine I do think the new model is an improvement. In addition to being a great product, it is backed by a great company. They go out of their way to make rowing safe, and fun, with informative newsletters, regular chalenges and competitions, excellent support, online rowing logs, rankings, and races. 5/5 0, April 10, 2004

    The best rowing machine ever!

Through the past several months I have spent a lot of time researching various rowing machines both on the Internet and by visiting various fitness equipment dealerships. I long decided that if there was one piece of fitness equipment I was going to ever buy it was a rowing machine. For years I have been working out on the well-known Concept2 in various local gyms. The Concept2 is a great fitness machine, but I wanted to see if there was something better out there, before throwing $1000+ on this machine. So, I came across the WaterRower, and boy am I glad that I did! Since I have some experience using the Concept2 (lately Model D), I can list some personal impressions about the two machines so you will have some comparison data. First of all though, let me point out that I purchased my rowing machice for home use. I am a fairly fit individual, but not an Olympic athlete. My favorite piece of workout equipment

I used to row for USC Crew Team back in 1992, and we used to train on the wind based rowing machines, I don't remember the brands, but they were very basic in comparison to the modern machines with there awesome computers. I've recently tried the Concept 2, and it was great, and seems to be to the standard workout equipment for serious crew members, but it's big and bulky, and not as easy to store, unless you have a dedicated gym room in your home. The WaterRower, on the other hand, is easy to flip up and put in the corner of my bedroom. I roll it out on my balcony in the morning to enjoy the cool breeze while I row. I try to fit my workout in the morning before the baby wakes up, and I have no problem hearing him over the whoosh of the water. The WaterRower S4 computer isn't as feature rich as the PM3/4 on the concept 2, but it has all that I need, since I just like to do basic 10km or 45 min sessions with a heartmonitor. I really do enjoy the sound of the water, it... 5/5 A. Ryan "USC Lonestar" (Redondo Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews, September 5, 2008

Exercise is a pleasure with this machine

The Waterrower is a great way to improve your fitness. At 64 I didn't want to overdo it. I found you can work like crazy or take it easy with this. It's up to you. So I've gradually increased the intensity and duration of my rowing. Within a few weeks, I already feel much stronger and this shows up in my weekly tennis matches. Also shows in my mental fitness. I'm just more "there". Better in conversation, sharper in my thinking. The rowing itself has a mild "swishing" sound that makes it feel you're actually on the water. It's not so loud, so you can watch TV or listen to music as you row. Make sure you get the monitor. The information is valuable and helps keep you motivated. This is just what I was looking for and I would imagine younger guys would just work like hell with this and also benefit. 5/5 Average Joe - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) an exceptional machine

The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. I have owned one for about 10 years, and my wife and I both use it regularly. In the entire time I've owned it, the only parts I've had to replace have been the monitor batteries and the double-sided tape that fastens the monitor wire brackets to the frame. I found the workout it provides to be deceptive at first--until I stood up after using it the first several times, I didn't realize just how intense the workout had been! If you've used other rowing machines, you're in for a treat when you try this one--there is absolutely no shock to the shoulders or arms at the beginning of a stroke (even from rest). The footrest is rock solid and easily adjustable for foot size; the frame is long enough to accommodate very tall rowers (I've had friends up to 6' 4" use it without banging into the stops); the components are rugged and last a long time (at least 10 years so far); and the... 5/5 nucpiper "RNS" (SW Michigan) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. Wonderful piece of equipment

I cannot believe no one else has reviewed this yet! I got mine more a year ago. I use it at least once a week (usually 2-3 times). Read online about the benefits of rowing---you get the cardio/aerobic plus the muscle toning, with no joint impact. A very, very nice combination. Despite some folks expressed concerns (at least folks tell me they worry), there are no back issues. This rower looks nice, feels great (love the water resistance!), and gets results. It is elegant and functional. Yes, it is a tad pricey. But hey, if you actually use it, you will get results, it is more than worth it. I live in a traffic congested area (Washington DC) and have no desire to fight traffic to get to the gym. For me, this is a perfect solution. Given the quality of this piece of equipment, I expect to be using it for years! 5/5 Guppee (Northern VA) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) I cannot believe no one else has reviewed this yet! Ok but with some reservations, limited comparison w Concept 2

Update - Water rower sent me a new sensor and disk which fixed the computer. It was relatively easy to install. I would like to upgrade my rating to 4. Everyone likes it and uses it. Why not a five? My remaining nits, which really shouldn't discourage people from buying it are:1) The footrests. Yup still catches the shoes, even though I changed to ones with narrower heels. I think they could fix this by angling the edges outwards. A bit more substantive design would also be nice.2) The computer - Its kinda basic. It will count calories per hour as you row, but won't give you a total calorie count. Additionally, I use the rower when watching movies in the dark. It would be great if there were a backlight just to check how you are doing. I use my cellphone light to check.3) I've figured out why the feel of the pull is not perfectly smooth. Basically, there is a wheel where the strap goes around (imagine a ribbon wound around a wheel). Solid unit, great workout

Overall an excellent unit that I feel is worth its steep price. I've owned a couple rowers and a skier for years and after 3 weeks this is now my cardio workout device of choice. It's quiet, comfortable and the computer controlled workout options are nice. At first I thought things like "whitewater" rowing were a bit goofy but the variable resistance programs make a real difference. The fan does make a bit of noise but far less than my skier and I can easily watch TV over the top of the resistance unit. The stats and options in the computer unit are top notch. The only gripe I have here is at full extension it sometimes loses the signal of my heart monitor (new Polar unit) - I'm 6' 3" - I tested the Polar watch and it, too, tends to lose the signal at that range so I suppose it's to be expected. I just wear the watch on my wrist to keep track of my actual heart rate (which is normally pretty close on the rower computer anyway) and use the computer stats for tracking... 5/5 Jeff Lindborg (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews, February 22, 2007

I'm very satisfied with my R100

After looking at several manufacturers and models I settled on the R100 because it has magnetic as well as air resistance. I'll admit I was a bit reluctant because of the price but after using it for three weeks now I'm extremely satisfied with the R100. It works like a dream. The flywheel isn't too loud and the seat glides very smoothly. It takes a bit of assembly but the allen wrench that comes with the R100 works just fine. When I placed my order I received notice that it would be delivered in 3-4 weeks but I had it in my house in one week! I've read some negative comments about Mercantila but I had no problems. If you're considering a rowing machine I highly recommend the R100. But if you've never used one before, see if you can test a few different types to experience air vs magnetic resistance. Possibly at a gym or spa if they allow single day or guest memberships for a day. 5/5 D. Mengle (Central PA) - See all my reviews, November 3, 2006

    Great Machine

I tried every rower I could find before buying one, and the Lifecore R100 is by far the best of the bunch. I only gave it 4 stars because there are little things that I think can and need to be improved, such as the screen tends to lower itself gradually when working out, to the point where you need to let go of the handle bar and raise it, yea I am sure it just needs to be tightened up, but on a brand new machine, one should not have to do anything. I also think they could have made a longer, and beefier cord to plug this thing in, the little short cord is just not long enough. The thing glides smooth, rows nice, and is a good rower. It goes together very easy, took me maybe 5 min to put together. I also spoke to the owner of Lifecore when researching these things, and the guy really knows a lot about rowing machines, and you can tell that he spent a lot of time refining this machine, and he cares about his product. The rowing motion is like heaven

I initially tried to order my Kettler Kadett from a company called Mercantila, a.k.a. Rowingmachines.com. It was a complete disaster and nightmare including some false advertising, trying to cover up some mistakes on their part which caused about a month of delays, some horrible customer service (or lack thereof), some false charges, and a lot of headaches. Eventually enough was enough and I wound up ordering it directly from Amazon, which cost me a few bucks more, but was well worth it.The machine comes mostly disassembled and took about an hour and a half to put together. It came with all the tools necessary except an allen wrench which was necessary for one small thing. In terms of overall quality, it's very high. Best thing I've done for myself in a long time!

The Kettler Kedett rowing machine is an amazing piece of equipment. I unpacked mine last night and despite missing a washer and having to wade through 90 minutes of assembly instructions, I was impressed from the very start. From the solidity and the perfect fit of the parts, it is clear that this machine is the product of German engineering. I haven't seen anything so well designed in years. Each part fits well, tightens nicely and still rotates or slides with ease. The machine is sturdy, sits well on carpet or hard flooring and easily folds into a compact shape when not in use.A workout on the Kadett is better than any workout I've ever experienced, aside from rowing or kayaking. The motion is very realistic, with nothing to distract one beyond the small chirping of the pistons and the occasional knock of the seat against the front of the rail. It is easy to close my eyes and imagine myself rowing down a quiet river. The entire experience is more like... OK, but some weaknesses

well, after reading that many positive reviews, I decided to buy one.delivery and assembly were flawless. There are some strange things about this piece of equipment, however.1. all the labels on the equipment are in German. Not a problem for me, because I am a German living in the States. Must be strange for locals, though.2. the pulse meter is completely inaccurate. I was rowing like mad to get my pulse into my aerobic zone (130). Once I was exhausted and double-checked with my chest-strap based other pulse-meter, I was already beyond 150, when the Kettler thing still showed only 110. If you don't want to kill yourself, don't use the built-in pulse meter.Besides, I hate having a cable dangling at my ear while rowing.3. at the beginning of my 2nd training session, when I tried to fix my shoes with the 2 tapes which were provided for this purpose, one of the plastic rings broke. It is made of such a cheap material, it... 3/5 Rezensent "Rezensent" - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Good for limited space and/or limited budget

Although I previously wrote a very critical review of this product, my subsequent experience with the Neptune Rower requires me to offer a more positive take. I use it every weekday in my pied a terre apartment and have found it reliable and enjoyable. One big advantage of the Neptune is that it's the only water rower I know that can be stored upright in a small amount of floorspace. Wheels make it easy to position. As noted in the earlier review, it was difficult to assemble due to an opening not large enough to accommodate a bolt and the little monitor's annoying beep (which sounds with every stroke) can't be turned off, so you simply have to pull the batteries. But the machine does offer me a good aerobic workout and is very convenient. 4/5 Richard H. Cowan "Green Mountain Guy" (Putney, VT USA) - See all my reviews, September 20, 2009

Spend the extra money for the Pacific rower

The overall quality of the Pacific rower, when compared to the Neptune rower, is worth spending the extra $300. They are both manufactured by the same company. Although the Pacific's computer isn't quite on par with the Concept II's I've used in the past, it is a lot better than the Neptune's computer. It provides more information than the one on the Neptune and the method of measuring distance rowed is a lot more accurate as well. I do wish that they had a better mounting location for the computer but it isn't that big of a deal. The seat, handle and foot pads are a lot better than the Neptune's as well and they're are fewer parts to assemble than the Neptune. If your down right on a strict budget, or your just cheap, the Neptune will burn some calories but if you want a better rowing experience and the satisfaction of money well spent upgrade to the Pacific rower; you will be happy that you did!I bought a Neptune rower and the company replaced it with a... 3/5 Marc D. good product though requires tweaking

Rower works great, though the assembly requires correction that is not documented in the manual. The magnet under the seat (to work with electronic monitor) was placed on the wrong side, and to correct this requires reassembling the seat and rollers with the spacers on the other side. The magnet was glued on the wrong side, and required some force to loosen. The water resistance works great. Quiet (only hear water swooshing noise) and smooth resistance. 4/5 tool timer - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) It works and looks like a much more expensive rower.

After having purchased an inexpensive piston rower (which was not so bad,by the way) I tried in a fitness shop some magnetic rowers and I found them much better. So I shopped around and I tried the Tunturi R30, The Kettler Coach, the Fitness Quest Integrity 3000, the Water Rower, the Lifecore R900, the Life Span and the Body Craft VR 100. I found that the Body Craft has the best value for money ratio. It is built very well, its ergonomics are handsome, the workout is fantastic, and the price is very acceptable.I particularly like the position of the footpedals and of the handle-bar,which I think is perfect. It also looks like it is very durable and it will last forever. I am very much satisfied, and would recommend it to everyone looking for a classy rower at a very honest price. 5/5 Gerardo Piero Pavone (Troy, Michigan) - See all my reviews, January 23, 2007

    This rowing machine ROCKS!

I was/am a runner who constantly was sustaining leg injuries of one type or another. I finally yielded to the fact that I needed to seriously cross train and reduce my running. I decided to row, however I abhore having to spend tons of cash on exercise equipment to work out indoors when running is virtually free outside. I originally wanted to spend only a few hundred dollar so at least I could get my work outs in and see if I really liked rowing. After reading every review I could find, I decided that it may be in my best interest to spend more than a few hundred dollars. When I chose the Body Craft VR100 rower I figured that I would still be compromising quality since it was a mid-priced unit. I didn't want to listen to things click and clack, and have to tighten things that would loosen over time. Much to my amazement, this rower Rocks! It was really easy to put together, the parts are high quality, and the important thing is when you row you don't even think about the fact... 5/5 T. Popper - See all my reviews, March 8, 2007

I know I'm going against the grain, but it's really worthless

Don't be fooled by its slick appearance: Whoever designed this machine has no clue about rowing. To row the standard 2000m distance on the BodyCraft VR100 takes EXACTLY two hundred and twenty strokes. It does not matter if you take 220 long, powerful strokes or 220 stunted, one-foot strokes; the computer always displays 2 km. Nor is it responsive to resistance. 220 strokes at the highest resistance level gives you 2 km, as it does at the very lowest resistance level. Also, according to the computer, you burn .6 calories for every stroke; it does not matter if they are long and laborious or short and effortless. Clearly, the manufacturers installed a dummy computer to fool unwitting buyers - in no way does it measure power, like a real ergometer. Thus, the exerciser has ALMOST NO CLUE about his performance and fitness. The computer is nothing more than a stroke counter and a clock. (The "stroke rate" indicator is fickle and nearly useless, and the "speed" is also... 1/5 Rowist - See all my reviews This review is from: BodyCraft VR100 Rowing Machine (Sports) Don't be fooled by its slick appearance: Whoever designed this machine has no clue about rowing. To row the standard 2000m distance on the BodyCraft VR100 takes EXACTLY two hundred and twenty strokes. Love the machine, just have one issue

EDIT: I'm editing my original review up to 5 stars. The machine is great, and I found my error on how to get customer service. Looking again at the product page, I saw an "other products from HCI Fitness" link. HCI Fitness is in Seattle, and looks like who I'd contact to resolve any further service problems. It certainly isn't obvious from what's inside the box, but now I know and feel much more confident about the machine. Below is my original review:There is only one reason I'm not giving this product five stars. On my first workout on this machine, I got about 2/3 through when suddenly the computer displayed an "E-2" error. I tried power cycling the machine, but "E-2" came back. That's when I went to the manual to look for customer service. The only contact info of any kind that I found was the company website. The website URL is shared with "Zeta & Co" auto parts, and clicking through to Proteus Fitness revealed a pretty basic and Taiwan-based... 5/5 K. Ringel - See all my reviews, December 2, 2009

Great rower that lives up to the hype

Almost pulled the trigger on the Concept 2 but was convinced by a friend to check out the Proteus Rower (we each ended up buying one). This rower is definitely commercial quality as advertised from head to toe. I am very impressed with the fit and form of all components, the European manufacturing influence is very noticeable. Display panel provides more than I will ever need but it is great to have all of the options. Extremely smooth workout, so far so good. I will keep you posted. 5/5 GettinFit (Phoenix, AZ) - See all my reviews This review is from: Proteus PAR-5500 Commercial Club Series Rowing Machine (Sports) Almost pulled the trigger on the Concept 2 but was convinced by a friend to check out the Proteus Rower (we each ended up buying one). Still waiting to see what happens...

Got this for $700 during a lightning deal, thiking it was a good price. As usual, got it on time and everything was OK with Amazon. However, after spending a few hours putting it all together and finally starting to use it, the handle/cable would not fully retract, and at times, not retract at all. I called the company for the rower, and they were shocked that this model would have any problems, and said there's nothing I could do to fix it, but rather that I needed to contact AMZ to get a replacement. So AMZ immediately sent me a replacement, but I had to pack up the first one in the box for the new one and ship it back. Although they attempted to send a USPS label, I told them the USPS would never pick that up, and that it had to go back UPS. they said that I had to go ship it myself, and that they would reimburse for shipping. However, after the UPS driver delivered the 2nd one, he said not to do that, but rather have AMZ issue a "call tag."They did, and the... 3/5 William F.
