    Demo of Stamina Rower

Customer Video Review Length:: 1:16 MinsSo far, so good. I was a little upset that there weren't any video reviews for this product, (youtube, from the company itself etc.) so I promised myself that I'd make a video demonstration for others to judge. The basic stuff you need to know: There are 12 levels of resistance (I was using resistance level 8).The computer tells you how many complete rows you have performed, time performed, calories burned or you can scan through all three (My computer didn't work when it first arrived, but after a solid punch it woke up and started working). The resistance is nice. You'll get a good workout with this inexpensive machine. Storage is convenient, but don't be fooled, 35 pounds is heavy to move around from room to room. Keep the machine close to where you plan on using it. Finally, the footstraps were a major complaint. My complaint about the footstraps is that it doesn't hold your feet securely against the footrests. The clicking noise you hear in... 5/5 Louie Lefkowitz "Lou da Joo" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews, September 25, 2010

    Great Rower For The Money

I have had this rower for a week now and it has been working great. The first rower I bought (a different brand of rower) broke down after 15 min of use, but the Stamina Body Glider is well built and very easy to use. The instruction booklet is very clear. It only took a few minutes to put the machine together. The amount of resistance is adjustable and the machine is very quiet. The only noise you hear is from the shock absorber type device which provides the resistance. It looks and feels like a more expensive piece of equipment, but provides the same type of workout that those higher priced models provide. Relatively lightweight, the Stamina Body Glider comes in at around 35lbs. The light weight makes it easy to move the machine around. I am thoroughly satisfied with this machine so far and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a rower. 5/5 R. Rose - See all my reviews, April 17, 2006

Started Good, Now Disappointing, Maybe Dangerous

We just assembled our new Stamina 1215 Orbital Rower. It took about an hour and a half. The machine feels pretty sturdy to me. Is it worth $279? Hard to say, but with everything so overpriced these days, who knows? The acid test is usually how long something lasts, so it will be worth the money if it gives several years of good service. I've done my first half hour of rowing and it's a fairly smooth action and relatively quiet. On some sites, a few people complained that the lowest setting is too tough for beginners, and I agree. But you can set the arms even a little lower than the bottom number, and this helps. I've had two rowing machines in the past and this one is as good or better than they were. I like the ability to set the back of the bar up higher which aids in getting off and on the rower. I was concerned about the 'orbital' action of the arms, but find it's easy to adjust to, and in effect, you can just row as normal and not use the orbital ability at all. I'm... 5/5 marquis (New England) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Don't waste your money

I bought this Stamina 1215 rower two weeks ago. After 10 days of use, the rollers that allow the seat to move up and down the frame as one rows collapsed. Naturally I'd already tossed out all the packing materials and the box. Oh, well. What I did was, I transplanted the arms, and the hydraulic resistance units (think cheap shock absorbers) onto a 20-year old Altero rower - the resistance units for that gave up some time ago, and that company is out of business, but now it's back on the road, using the Stamina's resistance units. Compared to this one, that old Altero is built like a tank. This one is, in my estimation, worth maybe $15. Yes, it's less expensive than the similar Kettler, and which now wish I'd sprung for; but it's also not worth the $279 currently being charged for it, in my estimation. All the parts are cheap and designed to be sold, as opposed to having been designed to be used. The "computer" is a cheapie and its little screen is tough to see. Do yourself a favor:... 1/5 J. F. Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine

After using this exercise machine for about a month (9 total exercise hours), I have found it is basically a good machine for the price. After 4 hours of use, one of the hydraulic shocks developed a "dead spot" at the start of the stroke. I called the Stamina toll free number for customer support. They sent out a replacement shock which seems to be working OK.The 4 roller wheels on the seat slide are molded plastic. They aren't exactly round so they "rumble" a little bit. It would be nice if they were smooth without mold marks on the running surfaces. 4/5 Sailor Don "Rower man" - See all my reviews This review is from: Stamina 1215 Orbital Rowing Machine with Free Motion Arms (Sports) After using this exercise machine for about a month (9 total exercise hours), I have found it is basically a good machine for the price. The best rowing machine ever!

Through the past several months I have spent a lot of time researching various rowing machines both on the Internet and by visiting various fitness equipment dealerships. I long decided that if there was one piece of fitness equipment I was going to ever buy it was a rowing machine. For years I have been working out on the well-known Concept2 in various local gyms. The Concept2 is a great fitness machine, but I wanted to see if there was something better out there, before throwing $1000+ on this machine. So, I came across the WaterRower, and boy am I glad that I did! Since I have some experience using the Concept2 (lately Model D), I can list some personal impressions about the two machines so you will have some comparison data. First of all though, let me point out that I purchased my rowing machice for home use. I am a fairly fit individual, but not an Olympic athlete. My main desire in purchasing a rowing machine was to loose / maintain weight, maintain cardiovascular fitness and... 5/5 Gabe Bona "Gabe" (Vancouver, BC Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Club Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) Through the past several months I have spent a lot of time researching various rowing machines both on the Internet and by visiting various fitness equipment dealerships. My favorite piece of workout equipment

I used to row for USC Crew Team back in 1992, and we used to train on the wind based rowing machines, I don't remember the brands, but they were very basic in comparison to the modern machines with there awesome computers. I've recently tried the Concept 2, and it was great, and seems to be to the standard workout equipment for serious crew members, but it's big and bulky, and not as easy to store, unless you have a dedicated gym room in your home. The WaterRower, on the other hand, is easy to flip up and put in the corner of my bedroom. I roll it out on my balcony in the morning to enjoy the cool breeze while I row. I try to fit my workout in the morning before the baby wakes up, and I have no problem hearing him over the whoosh of the water. The WaterRower S4 computer isn't as feature rich as the PM3/4 on the concept 2, but it has all that I need, since I just like to do basic 10km or 45 min sessions with a heartmonitor. I really do enjoy the sound of the water, it... 5/5 A. Ryan "USC Lonestar" (Redondo Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews, September 5, 2008

Exercise is a pleasure with this machine

The Waterrower is a great way to improve your fitness. At 64 I didn't want to overdo it. I found you can work like crazy or take it easy with this. It's up to you. So I've gradually increased the intensity and duration of my rowing. Within a few weeks, I already feel much stronger and this shows up in my weekly tennis matches. Also shows in my mental fitness. I'm just more "there". Better in conversation, sharper in my thinking. The rowing itself has a mild "swishing" sound that makes it feel you're actually on the water. It's not so loud, so you can watch TV or listen to music as you row. Make sure you get the monitor. The information is valuable and helps keep you motivated. This is just what I was looking for and I would imagine younger guys would just work like hell with this and also benefit. 5/5 Average Joe - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) an exceptional machine

The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. I have owned one for about 10 years, and my wife and I both use it regularly. In the entire time I've owned it, the only parts I've had to replace have been the monitor batteries and the double-sided tape that fastens the monitor wire brackets to the frame. I found the workout it provides to be deceptive at first--until I stood up after using it the first several times, I didn't realize just how intense the workout had been! If you've used other rowing machines, you're in for a treat when you try this one--there is absolutely no shock to the shoulders or arms at the beginning of a stroke (even from rest). The footrest is rock solid and easily adjustable for foot size; the frame is long enough to accommodate very tall rowers (I've had friends up to 6' 4" use it without banging into the stops); the components are rugged and last a long time (at least 10 years so far); and the... 5/5 nucpiper "RNS" (SW Michigan) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. Wonderful piece of equipment

I cannot believe no one else has reviewed this yet! I got mine more a year ago. I use it at least once a week (usually 2-3 times). Read online about the benefits of rowing---you get the cardio/aerobic plus the muscle toning, with no joint impact. A very, very nice combination. Despite some folks expressed concerns (at least folks tell me they worry), there are no back issues. This rower looks nice, feels great (love the water resistance!), and gets results. It is elegant and functional. Yes, it is a tad pricey. But hey, if you actually use it, you will get results, it is more than worth it. I live in a traffic congested area (Washington DC) and have no desire to fight traffic to get to the gym. For me, this is a perfect solution. Given the quality of this piece of equipment, I expect to be using it for years! 5/5 Guppee (Northern VA) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) I cannot believe no one else has reviewed this yet! Ok but with some reservations, limited comparison w Concept 2

Update - Water rower sent me a new sensor and disk which fixed the computer. It was relatively easy to install. I would like to upgrade my rating to 4. Everyone likes it and uses it. Why not a five? My remaining nits, which really shouldn't discourage people from buying it are:1) The footrests. Yup still catches the shoes, even though I changed to ones with narrower heels. I think they could fix this by angling the edges outwards. A bit more substantive design would also be nice.2) The computer - Its kinda basic. It will count calories per hour as you row, but won't give you a total calorie count. Additionally, I use the rower when watching movies in the dark. It would be great if there were a backlight just to check how you are doing. I use my cellphone light to check.3) I've figured out why the feel of the pull is not perfectly smooth. Basically, there is a wheel where the strap goes around (imagine a ribbon wound around a wheel). Is this a joke?

This thing has to be a joke right?Thought I would give it a try. It said it was for Wii fit, it's not. Now that I have it in my possession the box says it works with Wii fit plus or Wii sports resort. I don't have either, and after reading about them I don't see why I would waste my money just to be able to use the rower. Neither game in their description even mentions a rowing program. The rowers tension knob barely increases the tension. My one year old can pull it. The description also doesn't mention Wii motion plus, a little gizmo that attaches to the Wii remote. It is in the picture, but until I was trying to figure out how to use this thing I had never heard of it. 3/5 S. Gerber - See all my reviews, July 29, 2010

Shocks broke and leaked oil after only 9 mos. of use!

The product started leaking oil all over my carpet during use. If that wasn't bad enough, dealing with Impex customer service to get replacement shocks was a nightmare. Their website is deceiving when they advertise a 2 yr warranty. It's actually 90 days on the shocks, 2 yrs on the rest of the machine. The 2 new shocks they shipped (which cost $30) were the wrong ones, and they argued about shipping the correct ones. The machine itself is a good one for beginners, as the workout is not too intense. It is also perfect for anyone with limited space, as it is compact and easily portable. I would recommend putting it on some sort of mat so it doesn't ruin your floor in the event the shocks fail. A more advanced person will quickly "outgrow" the Pivot, however. I also own a Weider Aerostepper which I think is a better machine. It's larger and not as portable, so I leave it set up in my basement, but it has adjustable resistance and provides a more intense workout. Overall, I... 3/5 M. Ow! My aching knees!!!

I am no stranger to elliptical machines or stair climbers, and I have no knee problems. After using this for two days in a row (only 20 minutes each day) my knees still hurt so I am returning it to the local store where I purchased it. My knees felt numb on the insides right afer I finished each day and continued to ache a bit on through the night. I did not overexert myself (even though I was sweating quite a bit) or go too fast, but decided it wasn't worth doing this another day to see if I would have a pain free day. Fortunately, I don't have to ship it back anywhere.I am giving it two stars because it came preassambled and honestly it does seem to be very well made. Unfortunately, I cannot figure out how to set the resistance on it OR how to adjust the length of the tubes, and I'm not sure if you can do either of these things. Perhaps if the box had come with some instructions in it, it would have helped. I paid about $86 for it. Each of the 20 minute workouts showed... 2/5 E. Does the job, could be great if re-done now...

Overall, I'm glad I got this DVD because it is beneficial with regard to keeping good form by simply watching the rower in front of you. It also has workouts that have you rowing with different strength and emphasis at certain times for more of an interval workout rather than just hopping on and rowing at some steady speed. My workout on it does seem to go a bit quicker and I'm watching the clock less despite there being a countdown clock in the corner as it plays. It was clearly shot many years ago as evidenced by the minimally acceptable at best picture quality, even on my 1080p upscaling DVD player. The sound quality is poor so when it's time to do a "power 10" you can barely hear him say that. It would be nice to get some short scenery shots in there now and then too rather than focus on the back of the rower every single moment. Again, that's very beneficial for the workout, but I don't think a few 10-15 second shots to the side for some scenery would impact the quality of... 3/5 K. Rowing the right way!

I have owned the Rowing Machine Companion in VHS for many years. When DVD came in. I did my best to find it in DVD, but to no avail! A friend copied the tape for me, when my VHS machine pooped out. I know I shouldn't admit this but I was frustrated that the author did not make it available in DVD at that time. About the first of February 2010, I was just playing around on Amazon and by golly I found it in DVD. I ordered it immediately, but I am partically disappointed with quality. This DVD has the added benefit of a table of contents. I can just "click" to the row I want! My "Micky-mouse" copy was unable to click from one row to another, and the copy is distracting for its flaws. I would like to comment on another review I saw here: The reviewer did not like this DVD very much. I understand his feelings but I have come to "love" this production. As with any repetitive exercise it can get boring. But it is very important to keep the correct posture and cadence in rowing... 3/5 N. Good motivator, but too short

This DVD gives a great opportunity to work on form, especially for sweeping, but is too short. At the end of the DVD you are invited to call a phone number to request a longer DVD, but my message was not returned. I really like the interval work, but could use a longer warm up with some focus drills. 4/5 L. S. Anderson "novice rower" (Eugene, OR USA) - See all my reviews, April 17, 2010

    Great workout!

This is an excellent workout. I have worn out several of these NordicTrack ski machines - it takes me about 6 years of use then they are pretty much shot. You can replace the critical parts but the better way is to find a used one in excellent condition that was built in Minnesota when they first came out. The later units made in Asia are built to the same drawings but you will quickly discover the quality is not the same. The workout is about 7 - 14 METS depending on how you set up the upper body and tension on the skis. Not everyone finds it easy to use - unless you have a fairly good sense of balance it can be awkward. 3/5 REHKSH "k7zb" (Stevensville, MI USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: NordicTrack Pro Skier Ski Machine (Misc.) Great workout in your house or yard.

Im around 60 so cant run like I used to and gave up the bike too.You can get more cardio-vascular exercise on a skier in 20 minsthan an hour on a bike, because you use your whole body from yourtoes to your shoulders. Because it is non-impact you can jump onit first thing in the morning, (even before yoga) even if cold stiff and sore, and viola, 20 mins later you are a new person. It has a bar to grab if you want to start out just power walking to warm up. Also its a great pick you up in the afternoon if you get the blases. One trick is to use your arms to resist each other: you are pulling with one arm and pushing backwards with the other. Also if you elevate the front your legs get more of a workout on the return stroke. As far as I know, the Achiever is the only model that has a knob to adjust the leg resistance instead of a strap you slide up and down. That makes is much easier to dial in the exact... 5/5 dee buchanan (buda, tx United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: NordicTrack Pro Skier Ski Machine (Misc.) Great Workout

I purchased the NordicTrack years ago and I still have it in outstanding working condition. I would give it a review of 5, however, I seem to be the only one of four in my household capable of using the NordicTrack to it's fullest extent. Meaning, my 3 other family members do not have the coordination to 'ski' and 'perform hand movements' at the same time. Good for cardio. 4/5 Dee A.
