Fly Effect Real 3D 1.0 for iPhone, Rare Concept, Racing with 3D Glasses

  • Oct 04, 2010 from techwhack in Technology
techwhack Advanced Global Solution AGS SpA today released Fly Effect Real 3D vs. 1.0 for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The application is a brand new launch, bringing a rare concept to the marketplace. Fly Effect Real 3D is one of the few existing games in the world that offers users not only two dimensional play but also 3D. Users who wear 3D glasses while enjoying the game get to experience a real feel of racing through a Superpunk universe, as they steer around obstacles.
New York, NY Announcing Advanced Global Solution AGS SpA, the developer of Fly Effect Real 3D 1.0, has released a unique product for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad users. The application is a brand new launch, bringing a rare concept to the marketplace. Fly Effect Real 3D is one of the few existing games in the world that offers users not only two dimensional play but also 3D. Users who wear 3D glasses while enjoying the game get to experience a real feel of racing through a Superpunk universe, as they steer around obstacles and try not to run out of fuel as they rack up points.
Fly Effect Real 3D is truly unique and at this point, rare. The app does allow users to play in regular two dimensional but it is among the first few games in the world that requires the use of 3D glasses with red and cyan lenses to enjoy three dimensional effects.
Naturally, the game download does not supply the glasses, players must use their own. When they do, they are rewarded with an amazing, realistic game venue, complete with speed, action and plenty of challenge. Two dimensional play offers the same fun but the graphics and the feel of the game do not have the same impact.
The games setting is a fantasy Superpunk universe. Players are raced through tunnels, trying to steer around obstacles, pick up bonus objects and use as little fuel as possible. Speed, which can be selected as slow, normal, fast or extreme, is not controlled by the player. The app operates the gas pedal and there is no brake.
Players can adjust the control settings to match their driving style, though. All moves are made with the accelerometer, so a steady hand can be a big help for serious players.
Of course, the object is to get the highest score possible. It will take practice for some players, as this is a challenging game. Once they feel confident though, users will want to take advantage of the apps OpenFeint support to compare their scores with other players around the world, as well as their friends on Facebook.
These are some of the features in Fly Effect Real 3D:
    * Play in 2D or amazing stereoscopic Real 3D mode
    * Spacecraft completely controllable by accelerometer
    * 10 different challenging levels
    * Each level playable with 4 different speeds: slow, normal, fast, extreme
    * Edit control settings to match driving style
    * OpenFeint enabled
    * Facebook sharing
    * Version 1.0 contains Earth World
    * Coming soon Air World and Water World, each with 10 exciting levels
Currently, Fly Effect Real 3D comes with Earth World, which contains ten levels. AGS plans on adding Air World and Water World in the apps next update.
    Device Requirements:
    * 3G, 4 iPhone and iPod touch, iPad
    * Requires iOS 3.0 or later
    * 37.6 MB
    Pricing and Availability:
Fly Effect Real 3D 1.0 is only $1.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Games category. Promo codes are available for qualified reviewers. Please specify the website or blog you represent when making your request.

    Difference Between ADH and Aldosterone

  • Sep 20, 2010 from cherran
    cherran ADH Vs Aldosterone
Basic learners of Biology and the concept of the urinary system may somehow have difficulty in separating the roles of ADH and aldosterone. Fortunately for those who have taken advanced courses involving these concepts, the two terms are just like their everyday word.
ADH and aldosterone are two of the most important hormones needed in the regulation of certain body processes that maintain systemic balance. When the overall blood pressure (BP) goes down, the body will automatically counter it by starting a systemic change to increase the BP. Also when the person is severely dehydrated, the body has no other option but to limit urine output and conserve more water for the body cells to use. These processes can be carried out by these two hormones.
ADH is completely known as the antidiuretic hormone. It is also identified as AVP or arginine vasopressin or simply vasopressin. Basically, the difference between the two is regarding the mechanism of action. Although both hormones have the same ultimate goal of water preservation or retention, they have different ways of attaining such. ADH does this by regulating the rate or amount of water reabsorption at the distant tubules of the kidneys nephrons. It is also said that ADH has the ability to reabsorb urea which, in turn, reabsorbs water through osmosis (movement of water from an area of lower concentration to an area of higher concentration).
On the other hand, aldosterone conserves water in a more indirect manner. It starts off with the reabsorption of sodium. This action will lead to conserving water because water will immediately follow to where the salt is. Aldosterone, like ADH also acts on the distant tubules, but also at the kidneys collecting ducts.
Water retention with the aid of aldosterone is more complex because it has to undergo the Sodium-Potassium exchange channels. In this set-up, potassium is excreted while sodium is retained.
The places where these two hormones are synthesized also differ. ADH comes from the hypothalamus but is released by the posterior pituitary gland. Aldosterone, like other steroidal hormones like cortisol, comes from the adrenal cortex (the outer layer of the adrenal gland). This hormone also plays a vital role in the renin-angiotensin mechanism a very important BP regulating system.
    1. ADH is synthesized in the hypothalamus while aldosterone is made in the adrenal cortex.
    2. ADH conserves water directly through its reabsorption while aldosterone conserves water indirectly through the reabsorption of sodium.

    Plants VS. Zombies Review (XBLA)

  • Sep 17, 2010 from steve519(Steven Artlip)
steve519 Game Review: Plants VS. Zombies
Release: September 8th, 2010 (Xbox Live Arcade)
    Genre: Tower Defense
    Developer: Popcap Games
Available Platforms: Windows, OS X, Xbox Live Arcade, iOS
    Players: 1-2
MSRP: 1600 Microsoft Points (Xbox Live Arcade)
    ESRB Rating: E10+
    Website: http://www.popcap.com/games/pvz
Homeowners have to worry about a lot of things. Maintaining the lawn, fixing the roof, cleaning the pool, and dealing with Crazy Dave, your neighbor. In Plants VS. Zombies, though, you have a whole new problem to deal with: the undead. Crazy Dave will have to be your best friend, since he has all the tools you need to fight off this infestation. Get out your shovel, because the best defense against zombies are legions of plants. Plants VS. Zombies just hit the Xbox Live Arcade, and its marching to your inevitable death of free time.
If youve ever played a tower defense game, youll know the general concept of Plants VS. Zombies. Zombies are slowly marching to your base, and you have to set up plants such as Wall-Nuts and Pea Shooters to defend your home from them. Most tower defense games have all the enemies following one path that winds around, but Plants sets it up with a few lanes of traffic, with zombies slowly marching in one straight line. This mechanic change is the most important, non-superficial, difference between Plants VS. Zombies and any number of tower defense games. Adventure Mode has you defending your front yard, back yard, and roof from the incoming zombies during night and day, with gameplay varied in each set of levels (back yard has a pool, nighttime lets you use mushrooms, and the roof requires potted plants). The whole time, your neighbor Crazy Dave is willing to sell you upgrades, such as allowing more seed packets in your production build at a time, or allowing you to upgrade sunflowers which produce sunlight, which is required for all plants and items to be used.

Additionally, the Xbox Live version includes extra modes outside of Adventure. A Zen Garden mode lets you water and grow plants for bonuses, Puzzle Mode gives you challenges, Mini Games turn the tower defense strategy on its zombified ear, and so forth. While all these are valid and fun modes, Adventure is required to unlock them, and offers the biggest chunk of gameplay. Much like the minimal plot, though, you dont need too much to have a great time.
If anything can be said about Plants VS. Zombies, its how addicting it can be. Many times during the review did an half-hour play session turn into two hours of addiction. The game definitely has the one more time vibe. Its a constant quest for the next seed packet, the next mode to unlock, and so forth. It doesnt hurt that the music is excellent, and accompanies the hilarious art style as well. Not all zombies have to be the Capcom variety of head-exploding. The controls are adapted well for the Xbox 360 controller, making it a breeze to move around with the analog stick, alongside swapping seed packets with the bumpers.

Like it was stated, theres minimal story, but even then, whats there is good. Crazy Dave is crazy, thats all you need to know (his recounting of the Konami Code at one point catches you off guard, hilariously). All the story and game animation is carried out in simple drawings in the same style, with no real voices or special effects. This isnt necessarily a bad thing, its just vibes with the concept. Outside of the rare brains, the zombies are a generic mass of unintelligible, grunting monsters. Only a few, such as the Disco Zombie, stand out, with the rest having small changes to delineate their difference in attack.
Plants VS. Zombies can not be recommended enough, but the buy-in price might be a little too high for the Xbox Live Arcade crowd. Try the online version for free before you buy. Additionally, for such a time waster, the iOS version might be better suited for on-the-run gaming. Still, I cant say I wasnt easily sucked into the world of Plants VS. Zombies for hours at a time unintentionally.

    an exceptional machine

The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. I have owned one for about 10 years, and my wife and I both use it regularly. In the entire time I've owned it, the only parts I've had to replace have been the monitor batteries and the double-sided tape that fastens the monitor wire brackets to the frame. I found the workout it provides to be deceptive at first--until I stood up after using it the first several times, I didn't realize just how intense the workout had been! If you've used other rowing machines, you're in for a treat when you try this one--there is absolutely no shock to the shoulders or arms at the beginning of a stroke (even from rest). The footrest is rock solid and easily adjustable for foot size; the frame is long enough to accommodate very tall rowers (I've had friends up to 6' 4" use it without banging into the stops); the components are rugged and last a long time (at least 10 years so far); and the... 5/5 nucpiper "RNS" (SW Michigan) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) The waterrower is an excellent machine that is exceptionally designed and provides an outstanding workout. Wonderful piece of equipment

I cannot believe no one else has reviewed this yet! I got mine more a year ago. I use it at least once a week (usually 2-3 times). Read online about the benefits of rowing---you get the cardio/aerobic plus the muscle toning, with no joint impact. A very, very nice combination. Despite some folks expressed concerns (at least folks tell me they worry), there are no back issues. This rower looks nice, feels great (love the water resistance!), and gets results. It is elegant and functional. Yes, it is a tad pricey. But hey, if you actually use it, you will get results, it is more than worth it. I live in a traffic congested area (Washington DC) and have no desire to fight traffic to get to the gym. For me, this is a perfect solution. Given the quality of this piece of equipment, I expect to be using it for years! 5/5 Guppee (Northern VA) - See all my reviews This review is from: WaterRower Natural Rowing Machine in Ash Wood with S4 Monitor (Sports) I cannot believe no one else has reviewed this yet! Ok but with some reservations, limited comparison w Concept 2

Update - Water rower sent me a new sensor and disk which fixed the computer. It was relatively easy to install. I would like to upgrade my rating to 4. Everyone likes it and uses it. Why not a five? My remaining nits, which really shouldn't discourage people from buying it are:1) The footrests. Yup still catches the shoes, even though I changed to ones with narrower heels. I think they could fix this by angling the edges outwards. A bit more substantive design would also be nice.2) The computer - Its kinda basic. It will count calories per hour as you row, but won't give you a total calorie count. Additionally, I use the rower when watching movies in the dark. It would be great if there were a backlight just to check how you are doing. I use my cellphone light to check.3) I've figured out why the feel of the pull is not perfectly smooth. Basically, there is a wheel where the strap goes around (imagine a ribbon wound around a wheel). The best rowing machine ever!

Through the past several months I have spent a lot of time researching various rowing machines both on the Internet and by visiting various fitness equipment dealerships. I long decided that if there was one piece of fitness equipment I was going to ever buy it was a rowing machine. For years I have been working out on the well-known Concept2 in various local gyms. The Concept2 is a great fitness machine, but I wanted to see if there was something better out there, before throwing $1000+ on this machine. So, I came across the WaterRower, and boy am I glad that I did! Since I have some experience using the Concept2 (lately Model D), I can list some personal impressions about the two machines so you will have some comparison data. First of all though, let me point out that I purchased my rowing machice for home use. I am a fairly fit individual, but not an Olympic athlete. My favorite piece of workout equipment

I used to row for USC Crew Team back in 1992, and we used to train on the wind based rowing machines, I don't remember the brands, but they were very basic in comparison to the modern machines with there awesome computers. I've recently tried the Concept 2, and it was great, and seems to be to the standard workout equipment for serious crew members, but it's big and bulky, and not as easy to store, unless you have a dedicated gym room in your home. The WaterRower, on the other hand, is easy to flip up and put in the corner of my bedroom. I roll it out on my balcony in the morning to enjoy the cool breeze while I row. I try to fit my workout in the morning before the baby wakes up, and I have no problem hearing him over the whoosh of the water. The WaterRower S4 computer isn't as feature rich as the PM3/4 on the concept 2, but it has all that I need, since I just like to do basic 10km or 45 min sessions with a heartmonitor. I really do enjoy the sound of the water, it... 5/5 A. Ryan "USC Lonestar" (Redondo Beach, CA USA) - See all my reviews, September 5, 2008

Exercise is a pleasure with this machine

The Waterrower is a great way to improve your fitness. At 64 I didn't want to overdo it. I found you can work like crazy or take it easy with this. It's up to you. So I've gradually increased the intensity and duration of my rowing. Within a few weeks, I already feel much stronger and this shows up in my weekly tennis matches. Also shows in my mental fitness. I'm just more "there". Better in conversation, sharper in my thinking. The rowing itself has a mild "swishing" sound that makes it feel you're actually on the water. It's not so loud, so you can watch TV or listen to music as you row. Make sure you get the monitor. The information is valuable and helps keep you motivated. This is just what I was looking for and I would imagine younger guys would just work like hell with this and also benefit. 5/5 Average Joe - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Intregal part of my 75 pound weight loss!!!

I own the Concept 2 Model D. I purchased it last year after an exhausting field and internet search. I "casually" used it for several months until a few months ago when I became very serious about losing weight. I now use the rower 5 to 6 times a week 30 minutes minimum- with an average of 45 minutes and occasionally (usually Saturday mornings) a 60 minute workout. I do not overdue the individual workouts, and maintain about a 23 stroke per minute rhythm.I chose this rower for several reasons. First, the great reviews on internet websites. Secondly, I was very impressed with the sales associate. He did not try to "oversell" me, instead he convinced me that for my needs the model D was more than sufficient. Third, I was fortunate enough to try one out at a friends home gym- I was impressed. Lastly- this is a high quality machine- very sturdy and well designed.I utilize this machine, along with a low carb diet and walking 3-4 miles 2 to 3 times a week, to... 5/5 D. "The Rower"

You need go no further than a major crew regatta such as the Head of the Charles to understand why Concept2 rowers are regarded as the best available. Generally there are only a few rower manufacturers represented in vendor alley, and the one with the crowd will be Concept2. Found in crew boathouses everywhere, not only are they well-built and smooth, but can even be linked together to work in unison for training purposes. It's actually quite amazing to see in action. Concept2 also has an enormously enthusiastic user base that competes across the world. That's indoor rower competition! You'll also find Concept2 rowers in gyms everywhere - they're very tough.Concept2 makes two models. They are actually fairly close in specs and the pricing difference is a few hundred dollars. One of the best purchases for fitness you can make

I bought a Model D with the PM3 monitor in August, 2009. I have been overweight my entire life and in November of 2008 I finally decided to change my life. I started a new way of eating with Nutrisystem and I started exercising. I bought an elliptical and treadmill to join my stationary bike and started losing weight. As I slowly became more fit, I kept researching other things I could do to keep my interest in exercise going. I'd never seen an indoor rower, but read about them as being terrific exercise in various places. I started looking really hard at them when I realized just how great a workout they offered at a low impact. Concept 2 is considered the standard in rowing machines. I was very pleased with the price point as well. I'd already spent a lot of money on the treadmill and elliptical and didn't want to drop a lot more. One very nice thing about Concept 2 machines is that they hold their value very well. I couldn't find a used Model D in my area on Craigslist,... 5/5 A. Solid unit, great workout

Overall an excellent unit that I feel is worth its steep price. I've owned a couple rowers and a skier for years and after 3 weeks this is now my cardio workout device of choice. It's quiet, comfortable and the computer controlled workout options are nice. At first I thought things like "whitewater" rowing were a bit goofy but the variable resistance programs make a real difference. The fan does make a bit of noise but far less than my skier and I can easily watch TV over the top of the resistance unit. The stats and options in the computer unit are top notch. The only gripe I have here is at full extension it sometimes loses the signal of my heart monitor (new Polar unit) - I'm 6' 3" - I tested the Polar watch and it, too, tends to lose the signal at that range so I suppose it's to be expected. I just wear the watch on my wrist to keep track of my actual heart rate (which is normally pretty close on the rower computer anyway) and use the computer stats for tracking... 5/5 Jeff Lindborg (Seattle, WA United States) - See all my reviews, February 22, 2007

I'm very satisfied with my R100

After looking at several manufacturers and models I settled on the R100 because it has magnetic as well as air resistance. I'll admit I was a bit reluctant because of the price but after using it for three weeks now I'm extremely satisfied with the R100. It works like a dream. The flywheel isn't too loud and the seat glides very smoothly. It takes a bit of assembly but the allen wrench that comes with the R100 works just fine. When I placed my order I received notice that it would be delivered in 3-4 weeks but I had it in my house in one week! I've read some negative comments about Mercantila but I had no problems. If you're considering a rowing machine I highly recommend the R100. But if you've never used one before, see if you can test a few different types to experience air vs magnetic resistance. Possibly at a gym or spa if they allow single day or guest memberships for a day. 5/5 D. Mengle (Central PA) - See all my reviews, November 3, 2006

    Great Machine

I tried every rower I could find before buying one, and the Lifecore R100 is by far the best of the bunch. I only gave it 4 stars because there are little things that I think can and need to be improved, such as the screen tends to lower itself gradually when working out, to the point where you need to let go of the handle bar and raise it, yea I am sure it just needs to be tightened up, but on a brand new machine, one should not have to do anything. I also think they could have made a longer, and beefier cord to plug this thing in, the little short cord is just not long enough. The thing glides smooth, rows nice, and is a good rower. It goes together very easy, took me maybe 5 min to put together. I also spoke to the owner of Lifecore when researching these things, and the guy really knows a lot about rowing machines, and you can tell that he spent a lot of time refining this machine, and he cares about his product. Bottom line, good product, and this is defiantly on... 4/5 SpeedRacer (Austin, Texas) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Impressive rower

I had two concerns about buying a rowing machine: first that I weigh over the 250 pound limit of most rowers out there, and second that I live in a second story apartment so noise is definitely a factor. I was pleased to find this machine on a good sale, and when it arrived I was able to put it together without much trouble (the instructions weren't the clearest, but it was pretty common sense). After having used it several times now, I can safely say that this rower put all my worries to rest! It is a very sturdy machine, comfortable and easy to use. And the only noise comes from the blades pushing the water, so it is very relaxing and no complaints from the downstairs neighbors. The monitor is easy to read, and as an added perk, it comes with a heart rate chest strap. I used to enjoy rowing at the gym, and now I am excited to have a quality machine in my own home. 5/5 K. Good Rower and Great Company

I am writing my review about 6 months after purchasing this rower. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase, but felt compelled to write my belated review only after experiencing an issue with the equipment and getting great customer service. First of all, I must say that this is one sturdy piece of equipment that is very easy to assemble and set up. I am a novice rower, but quickly learned how to use the equipment and found the workouts to be extremely satisfying. I was amazed at how complete the workout felt after only 15-20 minutes. My only vice is that the display seems a little cheap, but I really only use the timer and HR monitor and they both work just fine.I was gradually working my way up to longer work outs, when I experienced a break in the bungee cord that provides tension on the pulley that collects the row belt. The cord became pinched and ultimately snapped. The company provides a 2 year warranty, so I sent an email on a Sunday afternoon and got an... 5/5 Alan D. The Best for the Price

Having used the NordicTrack Rowing Machine until it wore out - decided to try the H2O ProRower RX-750. Received and set it up without incident - well packed and easy to follow instructions. They even supplied chlorine tablets, tools and if necessary a plastic shim to align the blades. Unlike most computers, this one has a very large display and is easy to use. Filling the tank was a snap, they provided both a funnel and siphon unit. What a smooth ride - the H20 ProRower is the best IMHO 5/5 aar! "aar!" (Phoenix, AZ USA) - See all my reviews, April 25, 2008

I initially tried to order my Kettler Kadett from a company called Mercantila, a.k.a. Rowingmachines.com. It was a complete disaster and nightmare including some false advertising, trying to cover up some mistakes on their part which caused about a month of delays, some horrible customer service (or lack thereof), some false charges, and a lot of headaches. Eventually enough was enough and I wound up ordering it directly from Amazon, which cost me a few bucks more, but was well worth it.The machine comes mostly disassembled and took about an hour and a half to put together. There were a few confusing moments as the instructions are only pictures and no text, so making sure you have the right part takes a little extra focus. It came with all the tools necessary except an allen wrench which was necessary for one small thing. In terms of overall quality, it's very high. Best thing I've done for myself in a long time!

The Kettler Kedett rowing machine is an amazing piece of equipment. I unpacked mine last night and despite missing a washer and having to wade through 90 minutes of assembly instructions, I was impressed from the very start. From the solidity and the perfect fit of the parts, it is clear that this machine is the product of German engineering. I haven't seen anything so well designed in years. Each part fits well, tightens nicely and still rotates or slides with ease. The machine is sturdy, sits well on carpet or hard flooring and easily folds into a compact shape when not in use.A workout on the Kadett is better than any workout I've ever experienced, aside from rowing or kayaking. The motion is very realistic, with nothing to distract one beyond the small chirping of the pistons and the occasional knock of the seat against the front of the rail. It is easy to close my eyes and imagine myself rowing down a quiet river. The entire experience is more like... 5/5 Karl Treen "Karl" (Providence, RI) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kettler Kadett Outrigger Style Rower Rowing Machine (Sports) The Kettler Kedett rowing machine is an amazing piece of equipment. OK, but some weaknesses

well, after reading that many positive reviews, I decided to buy one.delivery and assembly were flawless. There are some strange things about this piece of equipment, however.1. all the labels on the equipment are in German. Not a problem for me, because I am a German living in the States. Must be strange for locals, though.2. the pulse meter is completely inaccurate. I was rowing like mad to get my pulse into my aerobic zone (130). Once I was exhausted and double-checked with my chest-strap based other pulse-meter, I was already beyond 150, when the Kettler thing still showed only 110. If you don't want to kill yourself, don't use the built-in pulse meter.Besides, I hate having a cable dangling at my ear while rowing.3. at the beginning of my 2nd training session, when I tried to fix my shoes with the 2 tapes which were provided for this purpose, one of the plastic rings broke. Good for limited space and/or limited budget

Although I previously wrote a very critical review of this product, my subsequent experience with the Neptune Rower requires me to offer a more positive take. I use it every weekday in my pied a terre apartment and have found it reliable and enjoyable. One big advantage of the Neptune is that it's the only water rower I know that can be stored upright in a small amount of floorspace. Wheels make it easy to position. As noted in the earlier review, it was difficult to assemble due to an opening not large enough to accommodate a bolt and the little monitor's annoying beep (which sounds with every stroke) can't be turned off, so you simply have to pull the batteries. But the machine does offer me a good aerobic workout and is very convenient. 4/5 Richard H. Cowan "Green Mountain Guy" (Putney, VT USA) - See all my reviews, September 20, 2009

Spend the extra money for the Pacific rower

The overall quality of the Pacific rower, when compared to the Neptune rower, is worth spending the extra $300. They are both manufactured by the same company. Although the Pacific's computer isn't quite on par with the Concept II's I've used in the past, it is a lot better than the Neptune's computer. It provides more information than the one on the Neptune and the method of measuring distance rowed is a lot more accurate as well. I do wish that they had a better mounting location for the computer but it isn't that big of a deal. The seat, handle and foot pads are a lot better than the Neptune's as well and they're are fewer parts to assemble than the Neptune. If your down right on a strict budget, or your just cheap, the Neptune will burn some calories but if you want a better rowing experience and the satisfaction of money well spent upgrade to the Pacific rower; you will be happy that you did!I bought a Neptune rower and the company replaced it with a... 3/5 Marc D. good product though requires tweaking

Rower works great, though the assembly requires correction that is not documented in the manual. The magnet under the seat (to work with electronic monitor) was placed on the wrong side, and to correct this requires reassembling the seat and rollers with the spacers on the other side. The magnet was glued on the wrong side, and required some force to loosen. The water resistance works great. Quiet (only hear water swooshing noise) and smooth resistance. 4/5 tool timer - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) It works and looks like a much more expensive rower.

After having purchased an inexpensive piston rower (which was not so bad,by the way) I tried in a fitness shop some magnetic rowers and I found them much better. So I shopped around and I tried the Tunturi R30, The Kettler Coach, the Fitness Quest Integrity 3000, the Water Rower, the Lifecore R900, the Life Span and the Body Craft VR 100. I found that the Body Craft has the best value for money ratio. It is built very well, its ergonomics are handsome, the workout is fantastic, and the price is very acceptable.I particularly like the position of the footpedals and of the handle-bar,which I think is perfect. It also looks like it is very durable and it will last forever. I am very much satisfied, and would recommend it to everyone looking for a classy rower at a very honest price. 5/5 Gerardo Piero Pavone (Troy, Michigan) - See all my reviews, January 23, 2007

    This rowing machine ROCKS!

I was/am a runner who constantly was sustaining leg injuries of one type or another. I finally yielded to the fact that I needed to seriously cross train and reduce my running. I decided to row, however I abhore having to spend tons of cash on exercise equipment to work out indoors when running is virtually free outside. I originally wanted to spend only a few hundred dollar so at least I could get my work outs in and see if I really liked rowing. After reading every review I could find, I decided that it may be in my best interest to spend more than a few hundred dollars. When I chose the Body Craft VR100 rower I figured that I would still be compromising quality since it was a mid-priced unit. I didn't want to listen to things click and clack, and have to tighten things that would loosen over time. Much to my amazement, this rower Rocks! It was really easy to put together, the parts are high quality, and the important thing is when you row you don't even think about the fact... 5/5 T. Popper - See all my reviews, March 8, 2007

I know I'm going against the grain, but it's really worthless

Don't be fooled by its slick appearance: Whoever designed this machine has no clue about rowing. To row the standard 2000m distance on the BodyCraft VR100 takes EXACTLY two hundred and twenty strokes. It does not matter if you take 220 long, powerful strokes or 220 stunted, one-foot strokes; the computer always displays 2 km. Nor is it responsive to resistance. 220 strokes at the highest resistance level gives you 2 km, as it does at the very lowest resistance level. Also, according to the computer, you burn .6 calories for every stroke; it does not matter if they are long and laborious or short and effortless. Clearly, the manufacturers installed a dummy computer to fool unwitting buyers - in no way does it measure power, like a real ergometer. Thus, the exerciser has ALMOST NO CLUE about his performance and fitness. The computer is nothing more than a stroke counter and a clock. The E-520 is the best rowing machine on the market. I have recently purchased this machine. It was quite heavy and two of us were needed to carry this machine into the apartment. The resistance is easily adjustable on the fly, and the Interactive Performance Monitor (the rowing computer) allows for pacing programs as well as interval training. The resistance is immediate throughout the entire rowing stroke and there are no dead spots, which can be found on air rowing machines. It is very quiet and the rowing belt is very sturdy and made of nylon (seatbelt material). The foot straps were very thick and firm and were easily adjustable. Smooth and quiet

Usually when I travel I dread the types of "rowing machines" that are in hotels and clubs. My gold standard for ergs has been the Concept II. I was recently away for a week and worked out on the Fluid E-520. What a pleasant surprise! The Fluid is heavy (meaning sturdy) and very quiet. It's like rowing next to a washing machine, in a nice way. You can listen to music and TV at normal volume. No way with a C-II.The action is very much like being on the water. There is no slip at the catch, and more of a feel of momentum at the finish. It was easy to do long pieces. A wide range of adjustable resistance. Good meter with comparable splits to the C-II.This will be my next erg purchase. 5/5 R. Wright (Deep South, USA) - See all my reviews, September 29, 2011

The First Degree Fitness E-520 rower is ok if you want a soothing row with more pull than push. I just don't feel much difference in the setting. This is not a rower to do speed on but you can go for a long ride. It just cannot get my heart rate as high as it would on the Concept 2 rower.
