    Intervals? Yes.

First, a little background. I'm going on 67 and I've been interested in sports and fitness since high school. More or less continuously since after pilot training in 1969 starting with the original Aerobics book by Kenneth Cooper. I stopped running to preserve the joints and switched to biking about twenty-five years ago. Also, a bike on a stationary trainer, a ski machine, weight training, etc. I wore out a rowing machine once, the kind with hydrolic pistons. About three years ago I integrated the Tabata Protocol into my workouts. That's a kind of interval training. You can look it up. Really works better than aerobics and takes much less time. The down side: it is anaerobic, in the red zone, pure agony if done right. My hope was this rower would work for TP. It does. I was surprised to see a review here that said it didn't work for intervals. My guess is it was a technique problem since he mentioned arm fatigue. It takes a while to learn the correct rowing motion so that you can... 5/5 Robert Bissett (Naples, ID USA) - See all my reviews, May 20, 2012

    Not what I expected

I bought this to get a more "whole body" workout while doing interval training than I got on a stationary bike and with less impact than a treadmill. It was well built and operated very smoothly. There seemed to be very little difference in resistance between max and min, and I could never get my heart rate where I wanted while trying to do interval training. My legs never felt like enough resistance and my arms and shoulders tired too quickly. It wouold probably be a good choice for steady state aerobics but it did not work for me for interval training. I returned it and bought an elliptical exerciser. For what it's worth, I'm mid 60's. 3/5 J. Romain "retiree wannabe" (California) - See all my reviews, February 7, 2012

    Great Diversion

Almost like being on the water, without the smell, bugs, and drunken boaters. All in all a pleasant way to get your exercise in. Makes a great footstool as well. Looks good in the house. Now if they would just fix it so you could put fish in the tank............. 5/5 blueotter14 - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) Rowless in Seattle

Don't let the title of this review throw you off, it is a pun. Seriously though I am very happy with the purchase of the Seattle Wooden Rower. I shopped around for a water-based rower and choose the Seattle Wooden Rower because of price point and aesthetics. The beech wood goes extremely well in my front room and I consider it part of my furniture collection. I have been rowing on a semi regular basis and find the workout enjoyable and challenging. Basically you set the tempo and push yourself as hard as you want. Rating the whole process with 5 stars being the best; Ease of ordering 5 stars, shipping and delivery 4 stars, set up and instructions 4 ½ (easy), quality of components and material 5 stars, Happiness 5 stars. On a side note I was glad to see that this company was Eco Friendly and that they were a member of the Carbon Fund. 5/5 GoSooners - See all my reviews This review is from: H2O Fitness Seattle Wooden Rower WRX-1000 Water Rowing Machine (Sports) Don't let the title of this review throw you off, it is a pun. Pleasantly Surprised........

I have owned several rowing machines in the past and I think I finally found the right one. I recently purchased the Seattle Wooden Rower to compliment my home gym. Basically I was getting tired of my treadmill and elliptical. Historically speaking I am accustom to purchasing exercise equipment on the internet and either receiving something that is very confusing to assemble or broken. I was pleasantly surprised that the instructions included with the Seattle Wooden Rower were complete and easy to understand. It also showed up in excellent condition and required minimal assembly. This rower has been nothing but a pleasure to use and I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in rowing or if you are ready to upgrade from an older rowing machine. As of today, I can give the Seattle Wooden Rower 5 Stars. 5/5 JamesSanMateo - See all my reviews This review is from: H2O Fitness Seattle Wooden Rower WRX-1000 Water Rowing Machine (Sports) I have owned several rowing machines in the past and I think I finally found the right one. Great workout

I have been using this rower since Jan 2011. I have used other rowers in the past, and I thought it was time to go to a rower that had the feel and sound of actually rowing. That has been achieved with the Seattle Wooden Rower. I am not completed satisfied with the product, but for a price of under $800., when the competition is closer to $1200., I feel that I did well. First, the assembly is not as easy as others have described. The "furniture" bolts that are now standard on every u-assemble piece of furniture out there is the main fastener for this product. They are not easy to put in (especially if you have male hands) and some are in very tough places where a tight fit is hard to achieve using a miter wrench. I had to have my daughter put some of them in. Maybe some of the bolts need to be factory-installed. And the belt that attaches to the handles, and runs down the front of the machine, through a pulley, doesn't necessarily give you the impression that it is going to... 4/5 G. Love the RX-950

For the past few months I have been using the ProRower RX-950 at my local Snap Fitness and really like the feel of the water as I row. So, I recently purchased one for myself and could not be happier! It was a pleasant surprise to find a commercial grade rower that was affordable enough for me to purchase for my home. The rower was easy to assemble and came with chlorine tablets for the water. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend this product to a friend. 5/5 Robert Fyall "RobFyall" (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews, September 17, 2008

    Good Rower, Superior Customer Service

I have to start out with acknowledging that I purchased this Rower through an online fitness retailer that was a sub partner to the other massive online product company (M*********).At first my experience was horrendous. The product arrived damaged, late and numerous hardware pieces were missing that were required to put the product together correctly. Needless to say I was furious and disappointed. I contacted the online fitness retailer and demanded a full refund and a return of the product. I wrote a review on that site detailing my experience and it `mysteriously' disappeared after a day or so on the website. When asked about it, the company couldn't determine `why' it disappeared as they state `we accept critical reviews'.I then started searching the web for other experiences like mine. I came here to Amazon as well. I read the reviewer who indicated they contacted the actual manufacturer of this RX-950 product. So I did as well. Nice HEAVY DUTY machine...

I've been trying for the longest time to find a suitable rowing machine that would support my size and weight (6'1" & 300+ lbs) and kept hitting dead-ends with machines that were too "light weight" or just too expensive... That in itself was frustrating as one would think companies would make "heavy duty" machines to cater to larger people working on getting fit... I looked at everything from "bikes" to "rowers" too, all too wimpy in construct...My Wife actually found this one and after reading various reviews on the net and speaking with a Rep from the company I went forward with my purchase and I must say I couldn't be happier for it... The machine is everything I was looking for and will suit my needs for a long time to come... Set up for me was VERY easy, the only glitch was that some bolts had come loose in transit and were lost out of the carry holes on the box (I'm assuming)... It was nothing that prevented me from being able to set up the rower as it uses... 5/5 M. Orona (Whittier, California United States) - See all my reviews, February 2, 2011

Best rowing machine on the market

The E-520 is the best rowing machine on the market. I have recently purchased this machine. It was quite heavy and two of us were needed to carry this machine into the apartment. Setup for the machine was very easy, taking less than one hour to complete. All setup instructions in the manual were provided and the machine comes with all necessary tools for installation. The resistance is easily adjustable on the fly, and the Interactive Performance Monitor (the rowing computer) allows for pacing programs as well as interval training. The resistance is immediate throughout the entire rowing stroke and there are no dead spots, which can be found on air rowing machines. It is very quiet and the rowing belt is very sturdy and made of nylon (seatbelt material). The foot straps were very thick and firm and were easily adjustable. The machine needs very little maintenance except for putting chlorine tablets and blue dye into the water tank (both included with the rower). The rowing... 5/5 Mark (Wyncote, PA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: First Degree Fitness Evolution Series E-520 Fluid Professional Rower (Sports) The E-520 is the best rowing machine on the market. Smooth and quiet

Usually when I travel I dread the types of "rowing machines" that are in hotels and clubs. My gold standard for ergs has been the Concept II. I was recently away for a week and worked out on the Fluid E-520. What a pleasant surprise! The Fluid is heavy (meaning sturdy) and very quiet. It's like rowing next to a washing machine, in a nice way. You can listen to music and TV at normal volume. No way with a C-II.The action is very much like being on the water. There is no slip at the catch, and more of a feel of momentum at the finish. It was easy to do long pieces. A wide range of adjustable resistance. Good meter with comparable splits to the C-II.This will be my next erg purchase. 5/5 R. Wright (Deep South, USA) - See all my reviews, September 29, 2011

Ok Rower Very Poor Customer Service

The First Degree Fitness E-520 rower is ok if you want a soothing row with more pull than push. I just don't feel much difference in the setting. This is not a rower to do speed on but you can go for a long ride. It just cannot get my heart rate as high as it would on the Concept 2 rower. I have both machines and of course I can never get my husband to use the E-520 because he needs a challenge and not just a smoothe ride. Whereas I enjoy using the E-520 when I want to go for a relaxing ride, the Concept 2 rower keeps me more focused and motivated.I honestly think they feel different and my husband feels the same. The one good thing is that you can use the E-520 rower every day for an hour or more without feeling beet. With the C2, an hour's rowing every day will exhaust me. I use it every other week with my indoor rowing software.Another thing is that whatever little service you get from the the customer support for the E-520 is very poor, while the C2 support stands high... 2/5 TeeTee - See all my reviews This review is from: First Degree Fitness Evolution Series E-520 Fluid Professional Rower (Sports) The First Degree Fitness E-520 rower is ok if you want a soothing row with more pull than push.
